CFG-BEA-Gk. Alice Reunah MALTBY, b. Feb. 28, 1888 (Sylvester D.7, Ezra 6,
Zach.5, Dan.4, Dan.3, Dan.2, Wm.1). Mar. Feb. 23, 1915, Judge Charles E. WINTER, Sixth Judicial District, Wyoming. Res. Caspar, Wyoming. "He
is a writer of considerable ability and excells in portraying Western
character and Wyoming scenery." Judge Winter, besides his legal duties,
was author of several books and the state song: "Wyoming." He was
alternate delegate to the Republican National Convention in Chicago,
1908. In 1912, was nominee of the Progressive Party for Representative
in Congress. Elected to 68th Congress, receiving 43,026 votes and
elected to the 70th Congress with 14,310 majority votes. Mrs. Winter
was a member of the Maltby Association.
In 1912, Miss Maltby took luncheon with us in Vancouver, B.C. She
was greatly interested in the family and furnished numerous records of
her branch. Many years after she resided in Washington, D.C., and there
ascertained her Birchard line of descent. Mrs. Winter sent presentation
copies of two of Judge Winter's books:--"Grandon of Sierra," in 1916,
and "Ben Warman" in 1917. They had one child, b. June 16, 1920, died
four hours later. Judge Winter d. Apr. 22, 1948.
